Maintenance tips for TANKLESS WATER HEATERS

Switched to a TANKLESS WATER HEATER? Then you’re probably enjoying an uninterrupted supply of hot water in your home. Delivering hot water on demand, a tankless water heater is a more efficient and cost-effective investment that can serve you for up to 20 years if properly maintained. Don’t know where to start? Read on for maintenance tips for TANKLESS WATER HEATERS!

Your tankless water, like any household appliance, requires diligent maintenance so it keeps performing in peak condition. Here’s what you can do right now to extend the lifespan of your tankless water heater:

1. Change the filter every 6 months.

The filter in your tankless water heater effectively prevents the accumulation of scale, so your unit is running as smoothly as possible. Over time, scale will restrict your water heater’s flow rate, reduce its efficiency and ultimately damage the unit.

To keep this from happening, changing the filter every 6 months is highly recommended. You can do it more often if you notice it’s very dirty,

2. Flush mineral deposits at least once a year.

Mineral deposits remain a common problem with tankless water heaters. If your water is hard, there’s a potential for mineral buildup which can negatively impact the performance of your unit. Flush mineral deposits once a year, or every 6 months depending on the amount of buildup, to avoid damage.

Most warranties won’t cover damages from mineral build-up, so decaling and flushing the unit at least once a year is recommended. Cleaning kits are easily available if you’re up to the task . Alternatively, you can contact us and we’ll take care of your water heater ASAP.

3. Avoid overloading the system.

To avoid overloading your tankless water heater, it’s important to fully understand its capacity, as well as the number of different appliances that can use the water heater simultaneously.

While your tankless water heater can handle it if you use hot water at the same time in different parts of your home, it may shut down to avoid overheating if you exceed the unit’s capacity.

Consider upgrading your tankless water to better accommodate your needs if this is the case.

4. Check pipes and pressure valves to prevent potential problems.

In general, tankless water heaters are efficient and low maintenance, but problems are still inevitable.

Prevented common problems by routinelychecking the water pipes for any damage, and making sure the pressure relief valve is working properly.
